New First Contact scheme launched to help vulnerable

A scheme to help thousands of vulnerable people stay warm and healthy over winter has been launched in Craven, Airedale and Bradford.

First Contact, which is designed to banish suffering and misery caused by winter weather, will see duvets, bedding, hats, gloves and shoes handed out to those identified as being at risk.

The scheme is being co-ordinated by the Yorkshire charity Carers’ Resource, which has a base at Broughton Hall.

The Carers’ Resource will work with other organisations to circulate forms across the district, using a simple checklist to highlight people’s needs and point them to the right support.

The form can also be completed online by visiting carersresoure.org/first-contact.
