Embsay Parish Council agrees precept rise
8:00am Monday 24th December 2012 in News
Embsay-with-Eastby Parish Council has approved a six per cent increase in its budget and precept for the next financial year.
It has set its budget for 2013-2014 at £16,324 with £15,809 coming from local council taxpayers.
Chairman Coun Gillian Quinn said: “The current financial situation was once again a key factor in putting the budget together.
“While we have tried to be financially cautious over the past several years, we have also been aware that our recent practice of no annual budgetary increases would eventually catch up with us.
“The increase this year is therefore largely the result of members’ concerns that the additional hours worked by our parish clerk over the past several years without due compensation now needs to be recognised and formally acknowledged in this year’s budget.
“Despite the small increase, we feel that we have a prudent yet effective budget which reflects the current economic climate.”
