Silsden to stage annual fun run

Silsden will stage its 29th annual fun run on Tuesday – New Year’s Day.

The event normally attracts between 60 and 100 hardy souls and proceeds will be split equally between Silsden AFC and Bramley Buffaloes RLCC.

The runners will assemble at The Green at 11.15am before running up Bradley Road, Hole Lane, Heights Lane and back down Horn Lane and Bradley Road.

Each participant will receive a timed certificate, a mystery prize and, donations permitting, a surprise from Santa’s sack.

And, as an incentive to break Dave Throup’s 22-year-old record, there will be a cash prize of £1 per second shaved off the record of 15 minutes 25 seconds.

A similar deal is on offer for any woman who can challenge Carol Greenwood’s 20-year-old record of 18 minutes 18 seconds.

Entries, costing £2.50, will be taken from 10.30am and runners of all ages and abilities are welcome.

A prizegiving will take place in the Sunnybank Social Club. For more information, ring 01535 655766.
