Walk and talk with The Yorkshire Dales Society

The Yorkshire Dales Society is holding a walk and talk in Skipton on Saturday.

Starting at 10.30am from the Trueman statue at the canal basin, volunteer Bernard Peel will lead a walk through Skipton Woods, passing under the castle walls, along the historic Springs canal and back across fields, with panoramic views of the town.

Then, at 2.15pm, member David Calverley will give a talk on the making of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, describing how rivalries between the textile industries of Yorkshire and Lancashire and opposition to the canal itself threw up continual challenges.

The talk will be held at St Andrew’s Church on Newmarket Street. For more information, visit yds.org.uk
