Fifty new tree saplings and shrubs have been planted in Lothersdale Recreation Ground.
Villagers joined children from the local primary school for a community planting day.
The new plants, which were provided by the John Muir Woodland Trust, were put in a part of the park known as Millennium Walk.
Parish clerk Esther Burrows said children had been doing conservation work in the park and it was hoped that the native British saplings and shrubs would attract more birds and wildlife to the area.
Another ten saplings and shrubs received from the trust will be planted in the grounds of the primary school.
