Craven schools sign up for world record attempt
9:00am Monday 31st December 2012 in News
Three Craven schools have signed up to take part in a charity world record-breaking attempt for the most people signing and singing simultaneously.
Pupils at Carleton Endowed Primary School, Embsay Primary School and Brooklands Community Special School in Skipton will participate in the event, organised by the charity SignHealth, on February 6.
Steve Powell, chief executive at SignHealth, which is the national healthcare charity for deaf people, said: “Our Guinness World Records sign2sing project is an attempt to break the world record for the most people singing and signing a song at the same time. More than 800 schools have signed up so far.”
Earlier this year, 114,277 children, including some from Craven, took part in SignHealth’s sign2sing 2012 event and smashed the world record. The previous record was 94,489.
This year, teachers and pupils who sign up for sign2sing will have access to digital resources developed by SignHealth in partnership with Digital Giving.
Schools wishing to take part should register their interest via sign2sing.org.uk
