A fundraising push for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance by two Draughton residents has topped £4,500.

Denise Hirst and Trudy Murgatroyd held a charity sale and auction earlier this month and encouraged local people to donate to the cause, following their serious road accident at the Chelker Reservoir in May.

Mrs Hirst and her mother, 89, wanted to raise money for the air ambulance charity for its help after their car plunged into the Chelker Reservoir. Mrs Murgatroyd was flown to Leeds General Infirmary.

They say their campaign has now broken the £4,500 mark, with the sale and auction bringing in £1,700. To donate, visit justgiving.com/ Denise-Hirst
