Two people were injured at a New Year’s Eve party at a flat in Highfield Terrace, Skipton.

Police said a 43-year-old woman suffered a serious ear injury and a 23-year-old man received a wound to his face.

Officers were called to the scene at around 11.45pm on Monday to a report of a disturbance.

A police spokesman said: “Following the disturbance, a 24-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, both local, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding.

“They are currently in police custody while officers continue their investigations.”

Police cordoned off the scene and were at the flat throughout New Year’s Day with forensic officers taking hundreds of flash photographs.

It is understood that CCTV footage belonging to Tesco supermarket is also being examined by detectives.

And, yesterday (Wednesday), officers carried out house-to-house inquiries.
