Tyro – the commercial training division of Craven College – has won the 2012 International Partnership of the Year award from the British Council.

The award recognises the success of Tyro’s partnership with the Egyptian Banking Institute in Cairo and was presented to Tyro’s director of international projects David Llewellyn at a ceremony in Kuwait.

Neil Shaw, regional adviser of the British Council, said: “This is an outstanding partnership which has made significant impact, is sustainable in the long term and has delivered outstanding results, all during a time of significant unrest and instability in the region.”

Dr Mohamed Zakaria, EBI’s SME director, added: “Small businesses are the bedrock of the economy in Cairo and we are delighted to be working with Tyro in providing support to develop this important sector.

“The project builds on our very successful partnership with Tyro who are very flexible and responsive to our requests.”
