A pensioner in her 80s was conned out of more than £2,000 by suspected bogus roofers.
When she was unable to pay up straightaway, the men reportedly drove her to Nelson where she withdrew the cash.
North Yorkshire Trading Standards and police are investigating the incident which happened last Wednesday.
Three men are suspected to have been involved in the incident which happened in Otley Road, Skipton.
A police spokesman said the men also arranged to return the following day to carry our more repairs and collect £5,000.
Trading Standards officers were hoping to catch them but the men failed to return.
