Youngsters at two Craven schools are busy preparing for a huge concert later this month.
Pupils from Carleton Endowed and Embsay Primary Schools are taking part in the Young Voices event at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena on Monday, January 21.
Carleton headteacher Duggie Speight said: “This is an event where our choir learns to sing lots of songs and then performs them at Sheffield in front of thousands of people.
“Young Voices stage the largest and best children’s choir concerts in the world and have done so for over 15 years, although this is the first time that our school has taken part in it. Our children will be doing lots of fundraising to help towards the cost of the club, coach, T-shirts and lights.”
And Embsay teacher Alison Bell added: “I have 80 children in the choir this year and we are at the moment trying to raise £1,000 for coaches to take us there.”
The children each have a Smarties tube to do jobs and fill with 20p coins and youngsters have also packed bags at Tesco in Skipton and held a beetle drive.
