North Yorkshire Police arrest 112 people in Christmas drink and drug-drive campaign

A total of 112 people were arrested in North Yorkshire Police’s Christmas drink and drug-drive campaign.
Between December 1 and New Year’s Day, officers conducted more than 3,410 breath tests and made 112 arrests.
A total of 42 per cent of those arrested were in the 21-to-30 age bracket, with the 31-to-40 group making up 22 per cent.
Traffic Sergeant Pete Stringer, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “It is impossible to stress enough just how much drink or drug driving can impact on people’s lives. It isn’t just a case of you losing your licence for a while, there are wider implications.
“Even worse, if you get behind the wheel while under the influence of drink or drugs you risk killing somebody.”
