Rotters are being sought from the Craven area.
North Yorkshire’s Waste Partnership is appealing for volunteers to help spread the word about home composting.
Last year, the county’s team of so-called Rotters, who run stalls and workshops and give talks, attended more than 150 events and spoke to over 14,000 people.
But more recruits are needed to maintain the work.
County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, executive member for waste management, said: “The Rotters are passionate volunteers united by a desire to cut out unnecessary food waste and promote the benefits of recycling and composting.
Volunteers are fully trained and provided with the necessary equipment and out-of-pocket expenses.
Two free training days are being held this month, on January 18 and 25.
