Outstanding Ofsted report for Cracoe and Rylstone Primary School

Cracoe and Rylstone Primary School has won a glowing report from Ofsted inspectors.
They visited the 46-pupil school in October and found it was outstanding in every aspect.
“The quality of teaching is never less than consistently good and is most often outstanding. This enables pupils to make sustained and rapid progress across the school,” they said.
The report noted that lessons were well run, with no time wasted, and pupils were happy and motivated to work hard.
“Pupils say they enjoy their learning and that teachers make lessons fun. This results in great enthusiasm for learning and high rates of attendance.”
Achievement was well above the national average.
There was also praise for the pupils’ behaviour, which the inspectors described as exemplary, as well as their extremely well-developed moral and social skills.
“In this small school, pupils know every child by name. Older pupils act as buddies and are held in high esteem by those new to the school.”
The inspectors added that the decisive leadership of the school ensured a consistent approach to teaching and learning.
“A rigorous and accurate tracking system highlights those pupils who may be in danger of falling behind, with effective interventions in place to address pupils’ individual needs. This ensures that all pupils are provided with an equal opportunity to succeed.”
The inspectors suggested that to improve further, the school needed to accelerate progress in mathematics so that pupils of average ability could make at least as much progress as they did in reading and writing.
Headteacher Andrea Walker said: “Our whole school team is absolutely thrilled with our outstanding result. This report is a great recognition of the talents, dedication and hard work put in daily by everyone to achieve the very best we can for our children.
“Thanks go to all parents, governors and our wider church and village community for providing the continued support and trust necessary to encourage and help to sustain our ongoing school development. A huge ‘well done’ also to all our wonderful pupils for their effort and enthusiasm, which inspire us in everything we do.”
