Primary school youngsters were challenged to use a camera to express what it is like growing up in Yorkshire.

The competition was aimed at encouraging an enthusiasm for photography at an early age.

First prize went to Joseph Parker, of Bradleys Both Community Primary School, who depicted three generations of his family. He was awarded a £50 art shop voucher.

Organised by Skipton’s Mill Bridge Gallery, the competition was sponsored by The Art Shop, Skipton, and Ark Display Graphics in Leeds which produced enlarged images.

The winning pictures were selected by photographer Mark Butler, Mark Tennant, of The Art Shop, and Carina Wardle, of Mill Bridge Gallery. Runners-up were Tiarney Monks, of Giggleswick Primary, Alyx Burgess, of Sutton C of E School, and Casey Green, of Thornton-in-Craven Primary.

All the entries will be exhibited at Mill Bridge Gallery on the next two Saturdays.
