Skipton MP Julian Smith
Skipton MP Julian Smith has given his support to the new i centre project in Ingleton.
The Ingleton Middle Community Interest Com-pany has signed a 25-year lease on the former middle school buildings and intends to turn them into a centre for small and start-up businesses, health and welfare organisations and community groups.
The centre is set to open in the spring - providing planning permission is granted.
Mr Smith said: “I am pleased the efforts to ensure the middle school building has a positive future benefitting the community of Ingleton have been successful. “The concept of the i centre, to bring together enterprise, health and welfare services under one roof, is pioneering and I pay tribute to the team of dedicated and passionate volunteers who are making their vision become a reality.”
Peter Bright, head of property services at North Yorkshire County Council, who has helped to guide the project towards fruition, said: “The i centre is a great opportunity in Ingleton for community groups and small enterprises to grow and add vibrancy to the life of the village and surrounding areas.
“In the current economic climate it is important that local facilities are available to enable ideas to flourish and grow within communities.”
