Meetings bring councillors together to explore issues
10:00am Sunday 27th January 2013 in News
District councillor Andrew Mallinson
Six-monthly meetings to bring together councillors in Silsden, Steeton and Addingham are continuing.
The gatherings allow district, town and parish councillors to learn what is going on across the whole of Bradford Council’s Craven ward.
Councillors talk about the needs of individual villages as well as identifying issues that could affect the entire ward.
District councillor Andrew Mallinson said there was also an opportunity for joint projects and that Bradford councillors learned about issues that might not have filtered up from parish level.
Coun Mallinson said the last meeting focused on how parishes were responding to the Local Development Frame-work, a blueprint for thousands of potential new houses across the district.
He added: “Everyone has their own perspective - Steeton is a commuter centre, Addingham is rural, and Silsden is a major town with the biggest housing growth.”
The next meeting is due to be held in February.
