To mark the Russian New Year - which started on January 14 - the Russian Tea Room on Skipton’s High Street is displaying an exhibition of authentic traditional Russian clothing.

From real peasant outfits worn by everyday working class people, to more occasional and celebrational dresses, the clothes colourfully depict the country’s fashion from the 19th and 20th centuries and are representative of its different regions. Full information about the history and region will be displayed with the costumes.

The costume exhibition is displayed in the Russian Tea Room’s new Cultural Room, used for the development of arts, crafts, language, history and culture.
