Colin Speakman will prepare a visitor and traffic management plan
Dales expert Colin Speakman has been appointed to prepare a visitor and traffic management plan for Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
Funded by a grant from the Yorkshire Dales Sustainable Development Fund, the plan will look at how the adverse impact of sponsored walkers can be minimised while finding ways in which the community and businesses can benefit from the summer visitors. There will be extensive consultation with all agencies involved and a questionnaire is being sent to all households in the parish.
And Mr Speakman will host an informal drop-in at Horton-in-Ribblesdale Village Hall tomorrow afternoon and evening.
The results of the investigation will be presented at the annual parish meeting in May where actions will be agreed for implementing the plan.
