Organisers of projects aimed at helping Craven’s young people are being invited to take part in a Dragon’s Den-style contest.

The Craven District Council event will see a panel of “Dragons” handing out £2,250 to worthwhile projects.

Any group can apply for up to £500 of the pot for the benefit of young Craven people.

Groups will be invited to pitch their ideas on Monday, March 4, to the Dragons, who will include Councillors Linda Brockbank and John Roberts, Stacey Mitchell, from Craven Community Safety Partnership, and Sue Duncan, from Yorkshire Housing.

Last year the judges gave money to Skipton Rewind, Bentham Youth Cafe, Craven CVS and Lytham Play Area.

Coun Brockbank, the council’s lead member for empowering communities, said: “Anyone can apply to the Dragons, as long as the project idea is of benefit to young people.

“Last year, some really excellent groups received funding for some really innovative projects which gave young people in Craven lots more activities to get involved in.”

For more information, go to cravendc.gov.uk/dragons 2013. Application forms, which need to be completed by February 15, are also available from libraries, Skipton Youth Centre and from the council on Broughton Road.
