Youngsters at Threshfield Primary School are about to embark on a fundraising campaign for an orphanage in Kenya.

The move comes after aid worker Maggie Tookey visited the school and spoke about her work.

Maggie, a former teacher at Aireville School, Skipton, works for international relief agency Edinburgh Direct Aid and is involved with an orphanage in Kisumu.

“We are going to start our fundraising by holding a non-uniform day,” said headteacher Sue Weightman.

“We will be getting regular feedbacks on how our money has been spent and we will use the project to develop pupils’ maths, geography and English skills.”
