Six trainee vicars will be heading to the Dales to get a taste of rural ministry.

The ordinands – five men and one woman – are currently training at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, and will spend eight days in North Craven next month.

They will be supervised by the Rev Ian Greenhalgh, who has four parishes – Austwick, Clapham, Eldroth and Keasden.

He said: “The ordinands usually go to urban and city parishes, but it is important they learn about rural ministry and what a vicar has to do in a rural community today.”

He has lined up a busy schedule which includes a visit to Bentham Auction Mart, Easter work with local schoolchildren, supper parties and even a game of tennis.
