An evening with high profile celebrities will top the list of prizes at a charity auction and ball to be held at Skipton’s Rendezvous Hotel this weekend.

The auction, to be conducted by Tennants of Harrogate, is one of the highlights of the James Bond themed black tie ball, which will be compèred by BBC Look North presenter Nicola Rees.

Taking place on Saturday, the Licensed to Thrill event has been organised by the Ribble Valley and White Rose Ladies and is expected to raise thousands for research into childhood cancer.

Topping the list of coveted auction items is a table at this year’s star-studded Emerald and Ivy Ball, an annual event organised by Boyzone front man Ronan Keating.

The prize was donated by Cancer Research UK, the charity supported by both Ronan Keating and Ribble Valley and White Rose Ladies.

Guests at the Skipton event will also enjoy classic British cuisine and live entertainment, followed by the charity auction and dancing into the small hours.

Ribble Valley and White Rose Ladies was set up in 1998 to raise money for research into childhood cancer by co-owner of the Rendezvous Hotel, Karen Weaving.

She said: “Our annual black tie ball is a fantastic evening and is always generously supported. We expect a great deal of interest in this year’s fabulous headline auction prize.

“So far, Ribble Valley and White Rose Ladies have raised over £950,000 for Cancer Research UK. The ball will take us closer to our target of one million.”

Tickets cost £45 and are available from the Rendezvous Hotel on 01756 700100.
