Year six children at Glusburn School have taken on the role of teachers.
The youngsters are helping members of the community to master computer skills at weekly workshops.
Headmaster Richard Hunt said: “Our year six children represent the school and work alongside members of our local community through an inter-generational computer workshop. Many of our children are amazingly confident when it comes to technology and have excellent ICT skills.
“The workshops not only provide a service in the community but promote an inter-generational rapport between students and local residents, strengthening the school’s role in the Cross Hills and Glusburn area.”
The year six students already make a weekly visit to Townend Care Home at Cross Hills to read with the residents.
The new workshops take place in the school’s ICT suite every Wednesday between 3.45pm and 5pm and are led by Derek Blackwell, an organiser from AGE UK. They will continue until the end of the spring term (Wednesday, March 27).
