Planners approve extension to Barnoldswick home

Councillors overruled their planning officers and approved an application to build a kitchen extension at 37 Chapel Street, Barnoldswick.

The applicant, James Heaton, was seeking permission to demolish a small outrigger building at the front of the house and replace it with a new single-storey extension.

Speaking at a meeting of the West Craven Area Committee, Mr Heaton said: “The existing outrigger is unfit for purpose and the quality of the new build is of a high standard.”

Although officers had recommended refusal, saying the poor design would detract from the appearance of the property, councillors disagreed and said it would enhance the area.
