Northern Paper Board has been awarded top-rated ‘A’ grade certification for packaging and packaging materials through the British Retail Consortium’s Global Standards programme.

Companies who complete the high-profile safety and quality certification programme are recognised by leading retailers worldwide for their capability to deliver effective supply chain management, legal compliance and value for money.

Skipton-based Northern Paper Board – the UK’s second largest manufacturer and supplier of solid board boxes for the food processing industry – joins an elite group of 17,000 British Retail Consortium (BRC) certificated suppliers in more than 100 countries.

The year-long certification process was driven by managing director John Curran and production team leader Lisa O’Sullivan, working alongside independent external organisation Scope Business Systems Management Services of Burscough.

Mr Curran said: “This market-leading global brand helps build confidence in the food safety industry.

“To gain such recognition is a major boost to the company and adds a powerful new string to our bow as we seek not only to strengthen our national footprint, but also in opening up new opportunities for expansion overseas.

“In addition, it further reinforces our product safety and quality management policy and at the same time helps provide protection to the consumer.”
