Grassington Playgrounds Association has been presented with a cheque for £200 of criminals’ cash to help repair the skate park fencing at Town End Pasture.
The cheque was presented by Temporary Chief Constable Tim Madgwick at a presentation ceremony, held at the Newby Wiske headquarters for all successful bidders under North Yorkshire Police’s Why should they? campaign fund 2012.
The campaign supports the Proceeds of Crime Act which gives the police and criminal justice partners the power to seize cash and assets which have been gained through criminality.
Accepting the cheque, Kate Hilditch said: “We’re working hard to raise enough money for the refurbishment of the entire playground in Grassington and this is a great start.”
The association is looking to raise £75,000 over the next two years and anyone who would like to help or has any fundraising ideas is asked to e-mail grassingtonplaygrounds@gmail.com.
