Former MP and TV personality Neil Hamilton will be taking part in a debate on the European Union at Skipton’s Rendezvous Hotel on Thursday, February 21.

Hamilton, who is planning on making a political comeback with UKIP, will be on a panel discussing what’s right and what’s wrong for Britain’s business and commerce.

Chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons Nigel Evans MP, the panel includes Skipton and Rippon MP Julian Smith (Conservative), Bradford South MP Gerry Sutcliffe (Labour) and MEPs Mike Nattrass (UKIP) and Edward McMillan-Scott (Lib Dem).

And putting the questions are three entrepreneurs with business interests both in the UK, Europe and overseas - Barry Dodd, chairman of GSM group, who also chairs the business-led York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership, Alan Halsall of Broughton-based Silver Cross Prams, and Dennis Mendoros, of Kelbrook-based Euravia.

The discussion will also include questions from the floor.

“We are all affected and will carry on being affected by the European Union whether we like it or not,” said Rendezvous owner Malcolm Weaving. “So come and listen to what the people at the sharp end have to say and learn about our possible destiny in the EU.”

There will also be the chance to meet Mr Hamilton’s wife, Christine, who calls herself the British Battleaxe.

Tickets cost £20, which includes a two-course supper, and are available from the hotel on 01756 700100.
