A driver caught speeding on the A59 Beamsley Hill has been fined in his absence by Skipton magistrates.

Kevin Broomfield, 34, triggered a safety camera on August 30 which showed he was travelling at 57mph on the 50mph section of the road, the court heard on Friday.

Broomfield, of Bradford Road, Riddlesden, was dealt with in his absence after he failed to appear or contact the court.

Magistrates found the case proved and endorsed his licence with three penalty points, fined him £200 and ordered him to pay costs of £45 and a victims surcharge of £15.
