Medical experts are urging people to speak out during National Eating Disorders Week, which started on Monday.
Staff at Bradford District Care Trust, which provides community health, mental health and social care services for people in Craven, wants young people and their families to “speak out” and get the care, treatment and support they need.
Lisa Stead, team manager of child and adolescent mental health, said: “To tackle an eating disorder can be very scary for people. This is why we work closely with the young person and their family and support them throughout every step of their journey.
“We provide home treatment as an alternative to in-patient care, offering the young person and the family the chance to remain as a unit and fight the illness together. But for those who do require in-patient care and treatment, we access beds as locally as possible and play an active role in the young person’s care whilst an in-patient.”
Anyone concerned about their health or the health of someone in their family should speak to their GP.
