Shrove Tuesday celebrations in Craven

Caitlin Booth shows off her pancake skills Caitlin Booth shows off her pancake skills

It was a toss-up whether Caitlin Booth's pancake would land safely back in its pan on Tuesday.

But the Eastburn Primary School pupil successfully pulled off the traditional feat for our photographer.

She was among reception class pupils who tried their hand at making pancakes to celebrate Pancake Day.

The 31 children took turns to weigh ingredients and mix them in a bowl, then teachers cooked them on a stove.

And, in the north of the district, members of Settle and Giggleswick Mothers’ Union sold scores of pancakes at Settle Parish Church.

The event raised about £300 for the MU’s “Make a Mother’s Day” appeal, which empowers mothers in the third world to support their families and backs parenting groups in the UK.
