The long arm of the law has reached out to two charities.
Back in June, nine Craven officers and community support officers walked the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Help for Heroes.
And, even though, the challenge was organised for the summer, the walkers had to contend with the worst of the weather.
Team member PC Kirsty Graham said: “As it turned out, the weather was so bad that at first we thought we would have to cancel – which the British Heart Foundation did – due to the flooding. We soldiered on through the bogs, however, and managed to complete the walk in 12 hours. Together we raised £595.20 which is to be split equally between the two charities. We also ran a Skipton Fuzz Facebook page that allowed direct contribution to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
“The charities were chosen because the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an invaluable service that we often make use of given our rural location. Help for Heroes was suggested by myself as my parents are both ex-services and we were all moved by the reports of injuries to service men and women fighting out in Afghanistan.”
