Appeal over Embsay home extension dismissed

An appeal against a condition added to planning permission for a first-floor extension at 6 Cavendish View, Embsay, has been dismissed.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority approved the extension, but said the roof material had to be of the same kind, dimension and colour as that of the existing house.

However, instead of using the required stone slate, the appellant, Dr Robert Nelson, wanted to use artificial stone slate.

Appeal inspector Michael Moffoot said the condition was both necessary and reasonable to safeguard the character and appearance of the dwelling and surrounding area.
