Rescue: The woman was flown off Penyghent
A woman was flown off Penyghent after breaking her wrist while walking.
The 58-year-old slipped on snow on the summit of the fell shortly before 2.45pm on Saturday. The Clapham-based Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) attended and provided treatment and shelter until an air ambulance arrived.
She was assisted a short distance to the helicopter for transport off the hill before being transferred to a road ambulance in Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
It was the CRO’s fourth call-out of the year.
