Barnoldswick canal-side home is rejected
7:00am Friday 22nd February 2013 in News
Councillor David Whipp
A plan to build a detached bungalow near the Leeds- Liverpool Canal in Barnoldswick has been refused.
Langdale 101 Ltd had been seeking permission to build the home, with two parking spaces and landscaping, on land off Skipton Road.
But West Craven Area Committee agreed with planning officers and refused the application on the grounds that it would be a cramped form of development on a narrow plot of land and there could be potential public-safety problems affecting the integrity of the canal during its construction.
Coun David Whipp, who chairs the committee, added: “There would also be an impact on the amenity of an adjacent householder in Roundell Road.”
