Youngsters at a Silsden school enjoyed a variety of fun, creative activities to celebrate and learn about the culture of Africa.

The Amazing Africa day, at Aire View Infant School, also raised more than £140 for a scheme to build primary schools in Gambia.

The day included an assembly delivered by Linda Gunn, a grandparent of an Aire View pupil, who leads the Gambian Schools Project, mask making, silk and face painting and musical and drama sessions.

“I thought it was fantastic – beyond expectations,” said deputy headteacher Tim Whitehead.
