Miss Most Glamorous title for Skipton hairdresser Jan Bowers

Hairdresser Jan Bowers has won a beauty pageant... at the age of 43.

Jan, who lives in Skipton, saw off 30 other hopefuls to be named Miss Most Glamorous 2013 in an online photographic competition in aid of the British Heart Foundation.

It was organised by calenderstarproductions.com.

Jan was also a runner-up in a second pageant Miss Creativity UK, which was staged in Wales this week and raised money for Cancer Research.

“It just goes to show you are never too old to try,” said Jan, who has a 14-year-old son, Kobe.

“The company told me I’m an inspiration to older models to come forward.

“I won a pageant when I was 18, Miss Scarborough Tech 88, but never believed I’d do it again.”

Jan will now compete in the Miss Grand Supreme competition in December.

For our photo shoot, Jan is wearing a gown by C & H Browns, Skipton, and her hair is by Alison Jamieson, of the town’s Coach Street.
