Grassington Festival is seeking photographs that capture the weather in interesting ways.

As part of the 2013 programme, the visual arts team is holding a weather-themed photography competition.

Visual arts director Bryony Pritchard said: “We are on the lookout for amazing photographs which encapsulate our wild and wonderful weather.

“Five striking images will be chosen and awarded the opportunity of appearing on the Grassington Festival website in the month leading up to our fun-filled summer event.

“One special image will be awarded first prize and printed on the front cover of our festival souvenir programme.

“There are also some treats for younger applicants. So get snapping.”

The competition is open to photographers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels, but entries are limited to one JPEG image per person of at least 1Mb in size.

Email it along with a brief description (including date and location of the picture), your name, address and telephone number to visualarts@grassington- festival.org.uk or post it to Grassington Festival Photography Competition, Grassington Hub, Garrs Lane, Grassington, Skipton, BD23 5AT. The closing date is Friday, April 5.

The festival itself will run from June 14 to 29 and will include top acts, artists, musicians and ensembles from around the world.

Already signed up are internationally-acclaimed Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, the world-famous Black Dyke Brass Band, The Orchestra, starring ELO former members and legendary folk-rockers Levellers.

The full programme is expected to be released just before Easter.
