Cross Hills care home Townend Close raises the fitness bar

A Cross Hills care home held its own It’s a Knockout competition to celebrate National Fitness Week.
And the event at Anchor’s Townend Close saw staff taking part in a number of tasks including crawling through a cargo net, doing limbo dancing and twirling a hoop around their waists while being timed Children from Glusburn Primary School – who are regular visitors to the complex – were also invited to come along and encourage the staff through their paces.
Manager Sharon Mackie said: “We thought that holding an It’s a Knockout event was a fun way to celebrate National Fitness Week and was also an opportunity to get our residents involved in part of the preparation.
“Such events are important for older people’s physical and mental wellbeing, as well as being a lot of fun.”
