Majority of North Yorkshire pupils get first choice of school

More than nine out of ten children will be going to the secondary school of their first choice in September.

All North Yorkshire children have now received an offer of a school place and more than 98 per cent have been accepted into their preferred choice of secondary school.

County councillor Arthur Baker, executive member for schools, said it was good news for families.

“We are delighted that so many of our families have been able to gain their first preference from their school of choice of schools,” he said.

“As a local authority, we work with schools across the county to make sure all of them deliver the highest standards of education so that families who are not given first preferences will nevertheless be able to send their children to good schools.”
