Dr Chris Wright, a member of the Yorkshire Dales Society Council, will lead an early spring walk around Long Preston on Saturday.
Open to everyone, the four-mile walk will include a visit to the churchyard for glimpses of snowdrops and yellow aconite and the green lanes around the village.
Participants should meet at the Maypole Inn at 10.30am.
And, in the afternoon, Dr Tony Stephens will give a talk on The Birtwhistles of Craven and Galloway at Long Preston Village Hall.
John Birtwhistle was a cattle drover and descendants of the family were 18th century spy John Vardill and the noted Regency writer Anna Jane Vardill.
The talk starts at 2.15pm and admission is £3 for members and £5 for non-members.
