The results of a consultation among Silsden residents should be ready by the summer.

Silsden Town Council received about 1,000 responses to its wide-ranging survey of residents’ needs and concerns.

A sub-committee is compiling a report which will feature statistical information and a list of the most-raised issues.

Town councillor Adrian Naylor said the findings would show members which issues should be dealt with first. He added: “We can also look at the long-term strategic planning.”

The council would also decide whether the new information meant there was a need to update Silsden’s existing Parish Plan.

Alternatively the council could use the findings to begin work on a Neighbourhood Plan, a new measure contained in last year’s Localism Act.

Coun Naylor said that preparing a Neighbourhood Plan could prove expensive and time-consuming, but appeared to offer advantages over parish plans.
