Barnoldswick in Bloom volunteers began work to renew shrub beds at the town’s war memorial last weekend.

Old and overgrown shrubs were removed in readiness for new planting in March.

The work is part of a two-year programme of improvements, which has already seen a new entrance created and will culminate in unrecorded casualties of war being commemorated at the memorial.

Members of Barnoldswick in Bloom volunteered to replant the area with shrubs bought by the town council.

“On Sunday, old bushes were moved, cut down or pruned to get the area ready for new planting,” said Barnoldswick in Bloom representative David Whipp. “Volunteers also planted rose bushes donated by a Barnoldswick garden centre in town centre beds.”
