Police are hunting a conwoman who targeted an elderly Barnoldswick resident last Thursday.

The 82-year-old, who lives in the Sackville Street area, was burgled by a woman claiming to work for a blinds company.

Police say a female claiming to be from Age Concern knocked on the door of the pensioner’s house and told her she would be eligible for a free fitting of blinds in her upstairs windows.

When she asked the lady to go upstairs and take measurements, the woman stole a black handbag containing a brown purse with £70 cash.

The suspect is described as white, aged 30 to 40, of slim build with curly collar-length black hair. She was wearing a black leather jacket and black leggings.

Anyone with information should ring police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
