A dance with a difference is being organised by therapy and nursing staff from Airedale Hospital.
The event is for people with Parkinson’s disease and is designed to give them an opportunity to enjoy a night out with friends and family.
The idea for the dance came from Debra Borsley, speech and language therapist at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
It is the third event of its kind organised with help from the AIRE Unit team, with support from local branches of Parkinson’s UK.
It will take place on Monday, April 29, from 7pm to 10pm, at Hollygarth Social Club, Ilkley, and will include a meal and big band swing-style music.
There is also an Understanding Parkinson’s course at Airedale Hospital on Monday. The course, for all nurses and care and domestic staff, is hosted by Parkinson’s UK and will be held between 1.30pm and 2.30pm in the education centre.
It is free, but there is a £20 charge for people who book a place and do not attend. To book, contact Gail Creswick on 0844 2253631 or e-mail gcreswick@parkinsons.org.
