There was a good attendance for the rededication of Hellifield's war memorial on Sunday.

Located in the grounds of St Aidan’s Church, the memorial has been given a £5,000 facelift, which was funded by the parish council and a £1,992 grant from the War Memorial Trust.

The service was attended by Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire John Henderson, Craven District Council chairman Coun Chris Harbron, Settle mayor Coun Joe Lord, county councillor Richard Welch and district councillor Chris Moorby.

Two Hellifield Primary School pupils Alice Walton and Ethan Clarke laid wreaths.

Other guests included the Skipton Branch of the Royal British Legion, with its band, buglers and standard bearer, a standard bearer from the RAF, a volunteer from the War Memorial Trust, parish councillors, relatives of those killed during the war and villagers.
