A Silsden takeaway restaurant owner has had his bid to keep the business open until 2am blocked by Bradford Council.

Chicago Hut, on Bolton Road, is currently allowed to stay open until midnight, but the owner had applied to extend the opening times.

Silsden Town Council and numerous neighbours had objected, and planning officers dismissed the request, saying a takeaway open until 2am was not suitable for that area of Silsden.

There are flats above the business and officer Peter Timbrell said: “Occupiers are entitled to reasonable living conditions that include a significant reduction in noise and general disturbance in the late evening and early hours of the morning. In the centre of this small township, general levels of noise and customer activity in the early hours of the morning would be expected to be low.”
