Sutton-in-Craven Parish Council has objected to a plan to build ten houses in the village.
Mrs A Weatherall is seeking outline planning permission from Craven District Council to build 10 homes and create a new highway access on an area of grassland and woodland adjacent to Little Croft, on West Lane.
Four of the dwellings have been classed as affordable houses.
The parish council is objecting on the grounds the site is outside the development limits and previous plans had been refused. The council also said the drainage system on West Lane was inadequate, with residents experiencing flooding during heavy rainfall.
In addition, councillors believe extra vehicles from the development would exacerbate traffic problems on West Lane, which they said is used as a “rat run”, is very narrow in places and is dangerous to pedestrians.
The council also says Sutton has had its fair share of affordable housing with the Greenroyd Mill and Woodturners developments.
