Preparations are well under way for Fallfest – a music, film, arts and literature event in Glusburn.

Fallfest is now in its third year and keeps growing.

The festival runs from September 20 to 22, with upcoming band My Forever opening the event on the outdoor stage. My Forever have featured heavily on Radio 1 and have had a top ten single called “The world won’t wait”. One of their members, Seb Santabarbara is from Sutton in Craven.

New for this year is the Fallfest Arena with outdoor “Cougar Mania” stage and Marshall’s weekend long funfair.

Saturday sees another first with a farmers’ market being held in the village as well as The Great Fallfest bake off, live music and much more.

Saturday evening has become established as a gala event – and this year features international soprano Sarah Fox together with Airedale Symphony Orchestra with a Last Night of the Proms show.

Sarah has recently completed her tour with John Wilson, a popular conductor of the Henry Woods proms. Also appearing is Nikki Barrett, a musical theatre vocalist who has had leading roles in Chess and appearances at the Royal Albert Hall.

The event is being organised by a group of 15 volunteers, all of whom have been working hard to bring it togetehr.

Festival director Sue Ingham said she hoped people would get behind the event, adding: “This group of volunteers have been working very hard to provide a community event, so we need the public to support it if it’s to be sustainable. It’s the only community event of its type in Glusburn so we need people to come along if we are to move it forward.

“All we’re asking is for people to come and have a fun time and enjoy some quality entertaining performances.”

There will also be a VIP indoor garden party – a quintessentially English event.

Sunday’s highlight is the Festival Finale, with a wealth of local talent take to the stage, including Sam Ashby and headline act The Swing City Band.

Discounted early bird tickets are now available from the ticket hotline on 08438 860108, and for more details see www.fallfest.co.uk or call 01535 632976.
