Summer Shock festival to be held for teenagers in Settle
8:00am Tuesday 13th August 2013 in News
Teenagers in Settle are set to enjoy their own mini-festival this summer.
Following the success of the Kick-Start youth festival earlier this year, organisers are staging a free Summer Shock event in the grounds of the former middle school on Wednesday, August 21 from 3pm to 10pm.
A similar festival was due to be held at Aireville School, Skipton, on Friday.
Aimed at youngsters aged from 11 to 19, the festivals have been designed to offer a variety of art and sports based workshops and showcase musical talent.
The two events have been organised by a partnership of local agencies, including the Youth Support Service, local police and fire service, Skipton Library, North Yorkshire Youth and Skipton Extended Learning for All.
Natalia Oates, youth support service manager for Craven, said: “Following the fantastic response to the festivals we held at Easter we wanted to offer something bigger and better in August.
“Summer Shock promises to be a fantastic festival-style event showcasing and celebrating upcoming talent and providing opportunities to try new things.”
